The Support for Abused Elder Abuse Project in the Vallée-du-Haut-St-Laurent, whose promoter is the Grand Rally for Seniors of Vaudreuil and Soulanges (GRAVES), was born in the spring of 2015 from a consultation of various partners of the Vallée-du-Haut-St-Laurent wishing to counter elder abuse.
With a view toward continuity and sustainability, the SAVA-VHSL project aims to promote cross-sectoral work so that each community is well equipped to take action to counter maltreatment of people aged 50 and over, promote proper treatment and fight bullying between generations and also between seniors themselves, including the dynamics of mistreatment through cyberbullying.
The SAVA-VHSL pursues the following objectives:
Inform, raise awareness about abuse and promote proper treatment in the communities of Vallée-du-Haut-St-Laurent.
Develop and enhance the skills of community workers and managers in dealing with abuse of people 50 years of age and older.
Intervene optimally with people aged 50 and over affected by abuse.
The SAVA-VHSL project is based on consultation, partnership and inter-sectoral action. The SAVA-VHSL team works in collaboration with partners from various sectors: public, municipal, community, police, judicial, etc.
